The new safe has the touch pad and it's really spoiling me such that I want to covert my Browning safe dial combination lock over to a touch pad. Can this be done, reasonably?
Thanks

Re: Touch pad conversion
Any idea what something like this costs, or if it's something a technically educated person could do themselves without any formal training in locks? If I could pick up the lock for a few hundred and install it myself then it would be well worth it. I couldn't however see putting $1,000+ into a $2,000 safe.

Re: Touch pad conversion
I have that type of touchpad on my safe, and I like it... but you need to be very good at using the good and expensive Lithium battery, and put it on your calendar to replace it every year, whether it needs it or not.

Do they not alarm when they're getting low?

I'm not sure. Haven't wanted to push that theory
